Attractions.io, a leading creator of mobile visitor apps, has announced the launch of Indoor Mapping, a new indoor multi-level mapping feature. This new release promises easy navigation for indoor attractions, as well as outdoor attractions which have on-site structures. Attractions.io developed its mapping engine more than 10 years ago to offer functionality which was not available on the market. The resulting mobile app platform provides digital maps and interactive wayfinding. It has been employed by major theme park brands such as Merlin Entertainments and Cedar Fair, as well as prominent zoos, resorts, and cultural attractions. A branded, understandable digital map enhances the guest experience and reduces friction points throughout their route. Attractions.io has further extended its range of navigation capabilities with the introduction of Indoor Mapping, a tool for mapping complicated indoor spaces. Easy navigation in complex spaces Indoor attractions are typically challenging to map. GPS placement is unreliable, and other technical options like RFID and triangulation are currently being developed. During conversations with staff from indoor attractions including aquariums and museums, Attractions.io found that the cultural sector encounters issues in guiding visitors to their desired displays and activities. In addition, outdoor attractions, such as zoos, aquariums, and theme parks, sometimes lose navigation functions as visitors enter buildings. The new Indoor Mapping function enables operators to generate interactive maps of multi-level structures, for buildings with one storey or over 20. Visitors can use point-to-point wayfinding to get directions to and from any location on the site. For instance, they could plan their afternoon while having lunch at the cafe. Visitors can also plan accessible routes which avoid uneven surfaces, including steps. Peter O’Dare, VP of product, says: “Traditional navigation tools often fall short in complex, multi-level spaces, leaving guests and operators in need of a solution that’s more reliable and connected. So that’s precisely what we aimed to address with our new indoor, multi-level maps. “Our commitment at Attractions.io has always been to connect the whole guest journey, and the launch of Indoor Mapping is a prime example of us delivering on this. It’s about more than helping guests find their way; it’s about creating a connected, memorable, and effortless experience for every visitor. We’re excited to see how our partners leverage this new tool to further enrich their guests’ visits. “Indoor mapping is available in our MapLayr SDK and in our mobile app platform, for cultural attractions and resorts that want to offer guests a comprehensive service that includes access to tickets, photos, food ordering, and day planning all in one place.” Expanding range of enhancements Christie Pandoras Box Software version 8.9 try our 90-day free demo here The map makes it easy to shift from outside to indoor venues at attractions with on-site structures. The indoor map will be revealed when visitors approach a building with Indoor Mapping enabled or hover over it on the map. Users may select wayfinding routes by interacting with specific points of interest, just like in outdoor navigation. Visitors can enhance their experience with various map effects, such as dynamic lighting and animations. O’Dare adds: “These new features work and build on the other enhancements we’ve made to the maps over the last 12 months. This includes our unique dynamic night mode and texture effects that are now available to all customers.” Earlier this month, Attractions.io revealed that it has collaborated with Cedar Fair on its new guest experience app at Carowinds. The firm’s cutting-edge MapLayr technology has been used at the site to handle the complexities of navigation and mapping. MapLayr is the first mapping and wayfinding SDK designed to meet the needs of the attractions industry.
